XML Authoring on Pocket PC - Some Case Studies
We can provide our Custom Solutions for XML Authoring for Pocket PC as well as for Windows desktops. Even large and complex XML documents can be freely transferred to/from Pocket PC, where they can be viewed, updated and even composed from scratch.
These two case studies illustrate our approach:
- The Building Inspection Reports are complex documents each extending to upwards of 30 pages in Microsoft Word, historically prepared by secretaries using templates and working from inspector's field notes. The XML form of these documents was portable across all of the client's computing environments - you'll find illustrations of the Report Viewer and the Pocket PC authoring facilities in this case study
- The Shakespeare Play Reader is a Pocket PC implementation of our Play Reader for Windows, which is an HTML application available as a free download from our website. The version for Pocket PC is only available online and on-demand. It illustrates that structured documents are easy to navigate and use even within the confines of the Pocket PC form factor. Nearly all the hard work is done by XSL stylesheets, and you can get an impression of how fast they perform. Typical sizes of the play documents are 200K - 250K.
